Project Description

Navigating Spaces is a art installation I worked on. The idea was to navigate the city using three different methods; numerical, verbal and photographic. The idea of the project was to combine all three journeys and display them using graphics. I wanted to display each journey as layer so I hung each journey from the ceiling of the gallery on it's own seperate panel. Visitors could interact with my installation and view it from every angel, looking back and forth.

Graphic Design

The graphic work created for this was all original. Each layer of the project had different graphic elements to it. Two of the layers I had cut in vinyl and applied them to old glass windows I bought.

Photography

Every image used for this project was taken on-site as we moved through the exercise we were given. The photography is meant to give the viewer a visual so they feel like they are also taking the same steps as the artist.

Art Direction

Installing the art I created in a gallery with a 20ft ceiling was far more challenging than I expected. I ended up using a rope to hang each piece from the rafters. I have to measure out the length and place each one carefully.
